Jeff Gault's Fun Notice (May 17, 2012)

Good Morning Fun Seekers,

Our summer season has arrived, maybe not by the calendar, but our outdoor venues and festivals are opening this weekend.  And by the looks of it the weather gods are providing a great "blue sky and sun" weekend.  Where else in the world would you want to be??

First up is the Downtown Edinboro Art & Music Festival.  It begins with an Art Show opening at Parker's Gallery today at 6:00pm and runs through Saturday night.  I have noted some of the outdoor music below but you can get the full schedule in today's Showcase.

The line up for this years "Tuesday Series at ARTPARK" near Niagara Falls looks interesting: Kansas, Foreigner, Huey Lewis and the News, Yes, Procol Harum, Heart, Steve Miller Band, Peter Frampton, Sheryl Crow, Charlie Daniels.  If any of those names are of interest to you visit ARTPARK's web site.  Tickets go on sale Saturday.  Or stay here in Erie for "Eight Great Tuesdays", tickets not required.

THURSDAY---  Catch the wind at the Erie Yacht Club with Rodger Montgomery and the Breeze Band.  Then warm up at the Colony Pub and Grill with the Colony Jazz Band.

FRIDAY---  Start your weekend off with a Vegas-styled party brought to you by the Erie Philharmonic at The Bel-Aire. ($75) Guy Martone will be standing in for Frank Sinatra.  But if that is not you there is plenty else to do.  JD Jazz is playing at the Docksider at 6:30.  But being such a wonderful evening you may want some outdoors so head to Edinboro for two good choices. Start at Edinboro Lake Resort (6:30) on route 99, on the patio overlooking the lake, with Matt Texter. Then the Heliotropes are at The Performance Barn at Goodell Gardens in Edinboro at 7:30.  And then you could be off to The Riverside for Hultman and Barb Songbook at 8:00.  Back in town at 8:00 you will find the Bill Burke Trio at the Baybreeze Lounge.  There is also plenty to do until the wee hours tonight.  Outdoors at The Sloppy Duck you can enjoy The M-80's under the tent.  In the West Village the Breeze Band is at The Sandbar and Taylor Maid is at the Oasis.  But you will have to travel to see one of our favorites at Peek'N Peak. Shally and The Riffriders will be worth the trip.

SATURDAY---  If you want to start real early join area veterans at Rainbow Gardens for the Vets Rock Erie Event.  They are fundraising for the Erie County Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the fun begins at 1:00 with 6 Bands playing throughout the day and evening.  Lake Effect will play at 7:30 with two new female vocalist. That alone is worth the price of admission. ($25 per couple).  Also during the afternoon you can catch Eric Brewer and Friends (3:00) and Ron Yarosz and the Vehicle (4:00) at Goodell Gardens.  After all this afternoon fun you should be ready for dinner.  The Heliotropes are playing at Alto Cucina and Tom Hitt is at Casablanca.  Next up at the 8:00 hour Jon Halmi is hosting an Open Mike at Bobby's Place and Charysma is playing at Old Station 1 in Harborcreek.  To finish the night strong Downtown has The BluesBeaters at The Avalon, The Bayfront provides the setting for Taylor Maid at The Sloppy Duck and out in the West Village you will find Blues DeVille at Rocco's Tavern.  I guess you are going to have to make some choices.

SUNDAY---  To keep that outdoor thing going this evening head to Dobbin Landing, find a seat on the patio at The Cove and catch Jon Halmi at 6:30 and The Dock Boys at 7:30.

MONDAY---  For lunch stop by Presque Isle Gallery and enjoy Tom Hitt (12:30)

WEDNESDAY---  Doesn't it seem all days are filling up with the sounds of music.  Start off a happy hour at the Colony Pub and Grill with Bob Ferragine.  Then move into The Warehouse District and catch a "every other Wednesday" event with Marty O'Connor and Friends at Bobby's Place.  Or catch the "Next Generation" Concert at General McLane H.S.  Featured will be jazz bands from Fort LeBoeuf, Harborcreek, McDowell and of course General McLane High Schools with some help from Steven Hawk with the Misery Bay Big Band.

So maybe Tuesday you will be free to discuss real estate.  Give me a call.
