Hello Fun Seekers,
As you may have noted I
have attached a photo from Bobby's Place last week. ( Thanks
Denise) It was a dancing on the sidewalk kind of evening and there is no better
place for sidewalk dancing than Bobby's. I hope to see you there next
Wednesday.
On another note, as I'm
writing this Fun Notice, my son Shawn is driving a U-Haul full of my
daughter's things in from Los Angeles. She is moving back to Erie
after having finished getting her degree from La Verne University. As
sons do sometimes he beat my personal record of 987 miles for a single driver,
single day driving distance by completing 1217 miles yesterday. Oh what it
would be to be young again. But can he dance??
Lets see where the dancing
might be this weekend.
THURSDAY--- The
Wild Rib Cook Off and Music Festival
continues today with Ron Yarosz and the Vehicle playing the
Main Stage until 11:00.
FRIDAY--- In
another event kicking off the Perry 200
Celebration, tonight you will find the U.S. Navy Band
Northeast performing a 90 minute concert at Liberty
Park beginning at 7:00. The 90 minute concert will conclude with
The U.S. Brig Niagara firing it's cannon for the Band's
finale. Don't we live in a wonderful place? At the same time
Joe Rockhead followed by Pittsburgh's Totally
80s will be entertaining downtown at the Rib Fest. We do live in
a wonderful place. And that's not all. For a 6:00 start
Wegman's moves it music west with MJT playing
at the Asbury Rd location. And while you are near the West Village try
Alto Cucina for dinner with Todd Morton.
Doug Phillips is entertaining at the Erie Ale
House and JD Jazz brings in on to the stage at
The Docksider. At 8:00 Mary Alice Brown
brings her brand of jazz to the Baybreeze Lounge. But
maybe you don't want all the excitement of Downtown? Old Station
1 in Harborcreek is your best bet and Shally and
the Riffriders will make you a winner. But if you really
want to bet, head your horse south to Presque Isle Downs
and the Cleveland group After Thought will give you a
great show blending blues, gospel and show tunes for your
pleasure. If you stay in "The District" finish up at
Brewerie with The Breeze Band. No matter
where you go you are going to be having fun. After all you are in
Erie.
SATURDAY---
After Friday you and I are going to need a break, so start early at
Scooters with Rick and The Roadhouse Rockers
(4-8). Or go light at the Brick House
Coffee Bar featuring MJT (7-9). Then there is
always the last night of the Rib Fest with some country jams. Or really go
retro at The Sandbar with Disco
Duck.
SUNDAY---
Sunday should be a day of "laid back". Try MJT at
Rum Runners. Or something special at The
Unitarian Church on Perry Hwy. The Kate Buczek Memorial
Jazz Concert with Mary Alice Brown and the Charles
Ventrello Quartet from 4 to 6.
WEDNESDAY---
Sam Hyman is featured in this week's edition of the
Mid-Day Art Break at the Erie Art
Museum. And highlighting this week's entertainment is
Marty O'Connor and Friends, Playing for Food, at
Bobby's Place in the Warehouse District.
How can it get better than this???? For you
"out of towners" that are thinking we need to be get back to Erie give me a
call.
